O Morning, What Morning!
Walk
through a world full of glitter and shine
With
frost on the rooftops, vine laden, iced wine
The
sun glowing dimly, still waking and low
Each
moment it rises, a shimmering show
The
sky set ablaze as light filters down
How
radiant the colour of light's wondrous crown
A
sight, a beauty, this glorious morn
Dazzling,
extravagant, when each day is born
Joy
comes in the morning, each day made anew
O
mercy come swiftly! Thou warmth, bright and true!
The
dawn is breaking, the light overtaking,
Shadows
of darkness, fleeing, forsaking
From
slumber, awake, ye olde sleepy one!
Open
thy heavy eyes, the night is undone!
Gather
ye round to see this sight!
The
day has arrived; bid farewell to the night!
Arise
and partake of thy daily bread
Encounter
life's lessons, heed life's words said
Listen
to how a bird will go on
How
it calls and it sings its newest of song
Pale
with chill in the morn's frosty air
Blowing
stalks, branches, a dance done with care
Beams
cast gazes upon empty streets
Stretch
out thy limbs, make wide mouthed yawn
Let
morning flood in as curtains are drawn
The
chatter of critters become daybreak's beats
With
the soft light cometh last leaves falling
The
red, yellow, orange; blushed Autumn's graceful calling
Give
thanks for the blessings to thee given kindly
And
graciously back in return ye must, kind, be
For
life and for health and for song and thy kin
What
abundant magnificence each day allows in
From
a desolate deep to a lit amber hue
Those
once asleep rise up renewed
Breezy
cool whispers enchant all the more
Promised
in mysterious myth, legend, lore
Upward
melodical miles it goes
Each
longitude's hope, how greatly it grows
Dawn
somehow shatters and chases our foes
What
mystery's workings, only God, Himself knows
Daylight
brings with it the bold and the free
It
feeds the heart, the sky, and the tree
Earth
robed with light, the garment of day
He
has clothed her and crowned her, and loved her this way
Wrought
with wisdom, strong and pure
Folly
has faltered with light steady and sure
Exposed
are the daft, the unsober scurry
Their
deeds in the light, they scatter and hurry
Cast
aside the fear and the doubt
Be
not afraid, darkness has gone out
The
bitter, the sweet, at once give place
Forget
not the sorrows, yet lose not thy face
The
sunlight laid bare, raw esteem bright and fair
Pray
tell, does majesty sit greatly there
Canopied
crests lay dim less and less
Upon
all its mark, lain to impress
O
Morning, what morning, how convincing thou art
Thou
takest my breath, and hast stolen my heart
O
Morning, such beauty, potential, and wonder
In
loving thy charm, caught in thy web, under
How
vast and how spacious, extent of thy grace,
Humility,
meekness, what loving embrace!
How
blossoms from night into day like a flower
How
sacred this time, how solemn this hour
Suffer
me not to forget thy grandeur
Ye
bow in thy chastity, in innocence lure
Thou
invitest me in to dine at thy table
The
fast of midnight, ensuring I'm able
Spreading
wide the feast of feasts
The
gate, the door, she opens yonder East
It
seems though the frost has frozen time still
Eternity
placed in one moment's will
Precious
the counts, the tock and the tick
How
it lingers mid-step, and then fades away quick.
Loyally
living this day that won't last
Yet
honouring, keeping ancient vigil of past
Silently
nodding to that which comes 'round
In
stillness, obedience; what golden sound
No
tears or no utt'rance thee gently submit
Thy
glory, the givest, keeping not it
How
gracious and willing though takest the toil
So
others may live and beauty not spoil
Address
all now, telling horizon's tale
Speak
of the coming reverent gale
Daylight
shining, come with haste
Hither
to, spare none, no time waste
Henceforth
shall be union of
Organic
earth and heavens above
O
Morning, what morning, thou endless delight
Ye
opened my heart and set it in flight
O
Morning from dawn until dusk thou dost wane
'Til
thou reappear in the East once again
